2013 Competition Winners

Kenmare International Lace Competition 2013 winners

Kenmare International Lace Competition attracted interest from all around the world. Lacemakers of all ages competed across four different categories – Traditional, Contemporary, under 18 years of age and under 12. Finished pieces in these competition categories used a number of traditional techniques including needlepoint Lace (Kenmare, Youghal etc.), Bobbin Lace, Traditional Irish Crochet Lace, Carrickmacross Lace, Limerick Lace, Tatting and Battenburg Lace.

An exhibition of all entrants pieces was displayed at The Carnegie Arts Centre during the Lace Festival and the prize giving will took place at the Gala Dinner on the Saturday evening.

Fashion-Able Competition

The Fashion-Able competition has attracted talented third-level fashion and textile design students from throughout Ireland. Participants in the competition responded to the brief – to design a piece to be worn on the body in an interpretation of Lace .

The competition was judged by designers of International renown; Sinead Doyle, Helen Cody and Melissa Needham.

Pieces created by the students formed a centrepiece exhibition during the festival and complemented the up-cycling and millinery workshops that took place during the event.
